Research lines

The lines of research on which the Program is based were developed by regional demand and taking into account the innovative profile of future graduates, since technology created by them is going to have practical application in various areas of Biotechnology such as health, agriculture, the industrial sector and technological innovation.

  • Biomolecules:

This line of research aims to develop works aimed at production, identification, immobilization, purification and/or gene expression of biomolecules and studies on regulation or interaction involving biological systems, microorganisms, enzymes, animal and plant cells aiming at applications in the fields of biology, biotechnology, biochemistry and/or pharmaceutics.

  • Reuse of Agroindustrial Waste:

This research line aims to develop more high-quality products and processes from agro-industrial wastes widely available in the state of Minas Gerais, such as in the production of enzymes, antibiotics, biofuels, biopolymers, biolubricants, organic acids, and supports for immobilization/stabilization of enzymes.
