GRADUATE PROGRAM IN PHYSICS
FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF ALFENAS FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF SÃO JOÃO DEL-REI |
Who are we?
Established in 2011, the PPGF exists in a Broad Association format, currently composed of faculty researchers from two institutions, distributed across four locations in the South and Southeast of Minas Gerais.
What do we do?
We offer a Stricto Sensu Master’s program, with new classes starting each semester. By choosing one of the research lines, students determine which campus they will attend classes and conduct their research. The program has 18 permanent faculty members and 3 collaborators, whose research lines fall into 2 areas of concentration: Theoretical Physics and Experimental Physics.
The PPGF advisors collaborate with research centers in various countries, including: Armenia, Canada, India, Pakistan, Slovakia, Spain, United States, France, England, Switzerland, and Taiwan. These international partnerships enable our students to interact with both theoretical and experimental groups, from small to large collaborations, always working and learning with researchers of excellence in their respective areas.

Addendum
CAPES defines Broad Association as an official articulation between institutions to jointly co-sponsor the creation and maintenance of a Graduate Program. The broad association between UNIFAL-MG and UFSJ emerged in the context of the Consortium of Federal Universities of South-Southeast Minas. The Graduate Program in Physics was approved by the CAPES Scientific Technical Council on 10/27/2011. Currently, PPGF offers a Stricto Sensu Master’s degree in Physics.
