Bioprocess Engineering

Development of bioprocesses of industrial interest by synergistically integrating chemical and biochemical engineering. It involves research on biochemical/biological transformation into raw materials from plant/animal sources and a characterization of their products, by-products and wastes.

Main researches: synthesis and characterization of biocatalysts to be applied in processes and treatment of the food industry effluents; synthesis and characterization of biomaterials to be applied in biosorption processes; bioproduct recovery, purification processes and study and application of bioreactors on a laboratory scale.
