Sylma Carvalho Maestrelli

Sylma Maestrelli holds a bachelor’s, a master’s and a doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering (DEMa / UFSCar) and a specialization in Ceramic Engineering from the Ceramic Center of Bologna, Italy. In 2009, she became a professor at Federal University of Alfenas, Poços de Caldas campus. Since 2010, she has been working at PPGCEM at the same university. She works in the development of porous ceramics applied to water depollution (semiconductors) and reactor supports for enzymatic immobilization. Maestrelli has developed research focused on nanotechnology, working with high energy grinding, flash sintering and two-steps sintering. She develops projects in the area of ceramic / polymer composites and in civil construction concretes (optimization of formulations, substitution of raw materials and biomineralization).
