Proficiency in English is a requirement for the defense of Master’s/PhD and it is not a course!

English Proficiency can be obtained through:

1- Exam administered every six months by PPGCA Professors:

2021/01 will be applied by Professor Tales (online) on 07/30/2021 at 6 pm.

2021/02 will be applied by Professor Tales (online) on 11/30/2021 at 6 pm.

NOTE: If the student does not get a minimum grade of 6, they can repeat the exam during the next semester.

 2- Presentation of a CERTIFICATE with satisfactory scores in the tests listed below, pursuant to article 52 of the PPGCA Rules:

I – TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language:

a) iBT – Internet-based Test, minimum 60 points, valid for 2 years;

b) ITP – Institutional Testing Program, minimum 500 points, valid for 2 years; and

c) CBT – Computer based Test, minimum 170 points, valid for 2 years.

II – IELTS – International English Language Testing System, minimum 4.5 points, valid for 2 years;

III – TEAP – Test of English for Academic and Professional Purposes, minimum 50 points, valid for 2 years;

IV – Cambridge University Exams:

a) PET – Preliminary English Test, pass with merit, valid for 4 years;

b) FCE – First Certificate in English, concept C, validity 4 years;

c) CAE – Certificate in Advanced English, concept C, validity 4 year00s; and

d) BULATS – Business English Language Test, minimum 67 points, valid for 2 years.

V – University of Michigan Exams:

a) ECCE – Examination for the Certificate of Competency in English, score 65%, validity 4 years;

b) ECPE – Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English, score 65%, valid for 4 years.

VI – TELP – Test of English Language Proficiency, minimum 60 points, valid for 4 years;

VII – MTELP -Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency, minimum 60 points, valid for 4 years.

The Language Center at UNIFAL-MG offers face-to-face and online foreign language courses and the application of the Toefl ITP exam (availability of places depends on the arrival of resources at the institution).
